Tumbbad 2018 Re-Release at Box Office beats 2024 the Buckingham Murders at 1 day

In a surprising twist, the re-release of the mythological horror film Tumbbad has significantly outperformed this week’s new release, The Buckingham Murders, at the box office. On its opening day, Tumbbad, directed by Rahi Anil Barve and starring Sohum Shah, amassed an impressive Rs 1.65 crore, according to the film's producers.
This figure is nearly three times the earnings from the film’s original release in 2018, where it earned Rs 65 lakh on its opening day.
The film’s performance is notably better compared to the latest release, The Buckingham Murders, a Kareena Kapoor-starring murder mystery directed by Hansal Mehta. The latter managed to collect Rs 1.15 crore on its opening day, with a global gross of Rs 1.4 crore. In comparison, Tumbbad has also surpassed other recent re-releases such as Laila Majnu (Rs 30 lakh), Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein (Rs 1.2 crore in three days), and Rockstar (Rs 1.2 crore in two weeks).
At this pace, Tumbbad is set to become the highest-grossing re-release film of recent times, especially considering that most re-released films recently have struggled to cross the Rs 10 crore mark. With no major releases on the horizon, Tumbbad’s box office journey looks promising.
