Manu Bhaker creates history

Manu Bhaker, an Indian Olympian who competes in shooting, was born on February 18, 2002. During the Paris Summer Olympics in 2024, she took home two bronze medals. She started her career at the Paris 2024 Olympics by taking home a bronze in the women's 10-meter air pistol competition, becoming the first Indian woman to win a medal in any Olympics.
She and Sarabjot Singh won another bronze medal for India in the mixed 10-meter air pistol team event that same edition, making history as the first Indian woman and the first Indian since India's independence to win two medals at an Olympics.
She had previously won a gold medal at the age of sixteen in the 2018 Commonwealth Games.She had already made history in 2018 by being the youngest Indian to win a gold medal at the ISSF World Cup.
On February 18, 2002, Manu Bhaker was born in the Haryanan village of Goria, in the Jhajjar district.Ram Kishan Bhaker, her father, serves in the Merchant Navy as a chief engineer. She excelled at boxing, tennis, skating, and Huyen langlon, a Manipuri martial art, till the age of 14. She also won medals in these sports in the national games.
